UC series garlic undercutters

Pulling garlic out of un-loosened ground snaps necks and leaves bulbs behind. The UC series runs a blade 6 to 8 inches under the bulb, lifting and loosening the whole row so it comes out clean and intact by hand. It fits your PL-22 — take the planting wheels off, put the undercutter on — and comes in two blade widths.

How it fits

It’s an attachment, not a second machine

The undercutter mounts to the PL-22 frame in place of the planting wheels. Same tractor, same three-point hitch, same machine you planted with in October — swap the wheels for the blade and it becomes your harvester in July.

That means you are buying a blade, not a second implement. It also means you need a PL-22 (or an older Garlic-EEZ planter) to run one. If you have a planter already, adding an undercutter is a straightforward upgrade — ask us.

On the right, set up for harvest in July with the wheels removed and an undercutter blade fitted in their place, running six to eight inches below the garlic bulbs. Why undercut before pulling

Garlic is harvested by the neck. If the soil has not been loosened, the neck takes the full load and a percentage of your crop tears off and stays in the ground — or arrives at the wash station bruised.

Running the undercutter ahead of the crew changes hand-pulling from a wrestling match into a lift. It is the difference between a harvest crew that lasts a full day and one that slows down after two hours.

The undercutter is the second half of the season. The PL-22 planter is the first.
