About the company

The company behind the Garlic-EEZ planter

Velocity Farm Equipment builds the tractor-mounted garlic planters and undercutters that were sold from 2016 to 2022 under the Garlic-EEZ name. Same shop, same town, same machines — under a new name, and improved every season since.

Where the machine came from

Garlic-EEZ began in Dundalk, Ontario, when garlic grower Ken Hunt set out to solve the worst day of his own farming year. Doug Gilbert designed and fabricated the planters, the undercutters and the components that went with them. The first prototypes were built in 2015 and the machines went on sale over the winter of 2015–16.

They sold well, across Canada and then well beyond it.

What changed in 2022

In early 2022, Doug Gilbert — the designer and fabricator of those machines — took the operation over and renamed it Velocity Farm Equipment. The name changed. The shop, the address, the tooling and the person who draws and welds every machine did not.

What has not changed

  • Every machine is designed, fabricated and assembled in-house in Dundalk. Nothing is contract-manufactured, and nothing is imported and rebadged.
  • Every machine is configured to the grower’s beds before it ships.
  • Parts and service for older Garlic-EEZ units are still available. If you have been running one since 2016, call us.

What has

  • Wheel modifications and new configurations.
  • Setups for crops beyond garlic — seed potatoes, turmeric, ginseng, cucumbers and pumpkins.
  • Additional components that mount to the same three-point-hitch frame.

Formerly known as

Garlic-EEZ

Velocity Farm Equipment was formerly Garlic-EEZ (also written Garlic EEZ and Garlic Eez). If you are looking for the Garlic-EEZ garlic planter, the Garlic-EEZ under-cutter, or parts and service for either, you have found the right company.

Coverage of these machines published before 2022 — including in Fruit & Vegetable Magazine and The Grower — describes the equipment we still build. Pricing quoted in that older coverage is well out of date; ask us for a current quote.
